Europe needs a little Southern advice

Plantation From the Associated Press in Germany...

"The European Union on Thursday authorized Germany to give $165 million for research on Internet search-engine technologies that could someday challenge U.S. search giant Google Inc."

...and in France...

"France is still discussing a similar subsidy plan with the European Commission, aiming to give $112 million to research led by French video-technology company Thomson."

As Pulitzer Prize-winning author Bert Lance of Georgia is known for saying...

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Don't feel bad. I always thought it was Mark Twain, too.
