Don't fool yourself: Everyone knows your weaknesses

One of my team said to me this week...

"We've got people who hold onto tasks, even though they know they're over their heads. Sure, they may eventually Google an answer, but they could get to the answer so much faster if only they'd learn to ask for help."

fool Silly me. I thought my "team" was sooooo past that.

For real teams to thrive, you have to foster a culture that allows for mistakes without ridicule. People have to be able to admit their faults in order to get help and to overcome those faults.

That's how we learn—and it's how goals are met on-schedule.

So, to my team—and anyone, anywhere struggling to be a real team—we all have strengths and weaknesses.

Admit your faults to your team. If you think they don't know them already, you're fooling no one but yourself!
