This has been a frustrating few weeks—so much to do, so little time. It's nice when one of my interruptions turns into a reminder of how well things are going.
After reading my post regarding greener pastures and the dirt that lies beneath, one of my teammates dropped by yesterday to say...
"...In all fairness, the Decade where that employee worked was a very different Decade than we work at today. For her, maybe the grass really was greener on the other side. Our fields just got greener afterwards."
Wow.
This really made me smile—and not because I was thinking of fertilizer.
I've heard members of the management team express their happiness with my department—and with the explosion in quality and quantity today compared to a few years ago—and generally, I knew that office morale (at least in my corner of the world) seemed up these days...
...but I didn't realize anyone thought we'd transformed into a different company—until now.
Thinking about it, I totally agree—but we still have a long way to go.
Team-building and Process Improvement are like cutting-edge software; To be finished is to be obsolete. Even perfect pastures require maintenance to keep them green.
