I am positively amazed by Microsoft's stance on Silverlight!
In case your wondering what Silverlight is—that thing Internet Explorer tries to force you to download once an hour. It is a browser plugin that allows web applications to be developed with features like animation, vector graphics, and audio-video playback—features that characterize a rich Internet application—Microsoft's answer to like Adobe Flash, Adobe Flex, Adobe Shockwave, Java FX, and Apple QuickTime.
...but here comes the amazing part...
Not only has Microsoft released the source code for the Silverlight controls, they have also released almost 2,000 of their own unit tests for the code, along with their complete unit testing framework.
I think this is really amazing—and completely surprising.
Perhaps, Bill Gates really did retire.
